SSC-32U moves several servos at the same time

I just got this new SSC-32U. When I connect fewer than 5 servos to the board, everything works perfect with the Sequencer. However, when I connect more than 8 servos to the board, when I move one servo, all the servos move crazily at the same time. Totally out of control. I have no idea what’s going on. I didn’t group any servos together. Everything is in the default status.

Could it because I power the board incorrectly? I only powered the VS1 with a 6V battery. It is said that for the new SSC board, we don’t need the 9V battery. So I only powered the VS1.

The 6v sounds like it might be drooping. The regular needs headroom (more then 5v) to work. Depending on the regulator type, it might be 1v or more.

Sorry, I didn’t understand. Do you mean that there’s something wrong with the battery?

Can you attach a few clear images of your setup here?
What power supply are you using, and which servos?

Depending on the charge and capacity of the battery, under prolonged load, the voltage can drop low enough to cause the voltage regulator to drop out, and the 5v supply to the CPU to droop, causing problems.

Solution is to run a separate battery (9v) to the VL supply, and remove the VL to VS (as I recall) jumper, and have the 6v battery only for the servos ( VS).

Pix will help confirm.

I used the 6V battery power the VS1 , 9V power the VL. All the batteries are brand new. It still have the same problem.

I tried it, but it doesn’t work.

oh, forgot to mention, the servo I used is MG995 Metal Gear

Your connections seem fine, and you have the VL=VS jumper removed. The only thing which stands out is your AA battery pack, and based on what you describe as the symptoms, is likely the issue:
Your batteries need to be able to discharge at a high rate, and most AA batteries cannot. Second, the wires between the battery pack and the board need to be able to support this current, and we have our doubts they can.

Coleman has probably spotted the problem. AA battery packs have poor connections, and small gauge wires, and have been reported to cause problems. I suggest you buy a 6V NiCad battery pack as Lexmotion recommends.

Thank you for the help. I was wondering if NiMh battery works the same as NiCd? Are they interchangeable with each other? I have Nimh battery instead of NiCd.

With the same voltage, it should work fine.
