SSC-32U Issue

I too am having this issue.
I tried everything from post ssc-32u-and-windows-7-communication-t13170
No luck.
My Pololu 24-channel Mini Maestro servo driver works fine using the same setup.
Did we all get bad boards?

The last test from the previous post said to use Lynxterm and type ver, no luck there as well.
Lights show that it is receiving data but no response.

I had tried all those steps with no luck.
I had ordered two of the SSC-32U and both act the same.
I am giving VL 6volts and 2.4 amps from a wall transformer, tried other transformers as well.
I even tried the advanced settings from blog post serial-usb-to-serial-port-troubleshooting-t4702
Still nothing.
Lynxterm seems to make the connection and when I type ver the amber (RX) and green (A) lights flash after I press enter, but no output.

Should I return now?

Please check the SSC-32U manual, pages 15-18 concerning power connections. In most of cases, power is given to VS1 and the VL=VS1 jumper is removed / not in place. Depending on how you setup your board you may have damaged it.

Please open a support ticket with us and mention this thread in your message.

Sincerely,

Ok, first of all I am not an idiot.
Stop obsessing over VL=VS1, I never connected it, I have TWO, and I tried, following the manuals, to get it to work and nothing.
I did not damage with 5 or 6 volts your product, it was not functional when I got it.
I have a degree in Electronics and have been working with Lynxmotion products for over ten years, that is why I made the mistake of buying the SSC-32U.
I am not the only one, dozens of posts are about this same subject.
My Pololu works fine, same concept, I wanted an integrated XBee interface and not a brick.
How can I damage it? What safeguards were put in place that normal use would kill it?
Where in the manual that you reference does it state that? Nowhere.
Put power to VL and test, simple.
Put power to VS1 and test, simple.

Tell me in those steps where I blew it up?

Hi,

We would like to apologize for any misunderstanding that may have occurred from our last response.

Please note that as described in the manual, the VL input and the VL=VS1 jumper are not supposed to be used in most configurations since VS1 alone can be used. Also, powering VL only will not power the servo motors properly.

We noticed you have opened a support ticket with us so further support will be provided through there.

Sincerely,
