SSC-32

Hello I am having a problem with my lynx 6 robotic arm. The green light is on, on the robot and the serial is connected but when I run the lynxmotion program it says ssc-32 card cannot be found. I"m using the powe cord on the robot and I have the VL VS1 jumpers in place and I took the other one out. I looked on the forum found a similar problem and thats why I took the other jumpers out. But still having a problem with software saying SSC-32 not found. I need help asap please thank you.

Are you using a USB to serial adapter? If you open hyperterminal, does it see a com port available for use?

no i’m not using a serial to usb adapter. Its set at com4 and the green lightis solid the rios says it cant find the SSC-32 board

Perhaps you have miss matched baud rates.

what iis the baud rates suppose to be?

I have it set to 9600 and com1 the light is solid but I still get ssc-32 card not found on the software

Look at #10 in the ssc-32 users manual. It looks like the right two pins on the ssc-32 baud setting pins should be jumpered for 9600 baud.

ok, I see the jumpers on the board there is baud on it and two jumpers are there abcd are empty. and 9600 says 0 1 what should it be

I think the 0 means the left jumper should be removed, and the 1 means the right jumper should stay in place. I don’t have an ssc-32, so this is just a SWAG.

I tried various jumper settings and it still says it cant see the ssc-32 card.

You will need to do some trouble shooting to verify that you are sending anything out of your serial port. I suggest you disconnect the cable from the ssc-32 and jumper between the tx and rx pins on then the end. Then use hyperterminal to verify you are actually sending bytes out the serial port.

Both baud jumpers need to be in place. The RIOS program needs to use 115.2kbaud. If the program can’t see the SSC-32 then you need to change the serial port. You mentioned com 4, what about com 1, 2, etc. The green LED can go out, (this is a good thing) even if the baud rate is wrong, so I think you’re on the wrong com port.

Hello, The program only shows one com port com3 its the serial port I added a new serial card in there. I tried the two jumper settings at the same time and 115200 baud rate. the program still says it cant see it. the light is solid. Could you tell me whats wrong?

Can we start with the basics? What is the PC make and model, operating system, etc. Can you see the com port in windows? Have you used the comport sucessfully in any application? I believe this is a PC problem, not an SSC-32 problem. If it’s not a PC problem then the only other thing it could be is the DB9 cable itself. Are you sure it’s not a null modem cable?

I’m using the cable that came with the robot.it has 9 pins

I have windows xp installed and its on a AMD Athlon system and yes the modem works I tried it its brand new

I mean the comport works fine

I’m using windows xp amd athlon system and the com port works fine I bought it brand new. and I tested it and i’m using db9 serial cord with 9 pins.
