SSC-32 Servo Sequencer with BotBoarduino?

So I bought the AL5A robotic Arm Kit for my 8 year old and we started the project together. We are both very new to robotics and I thought this would be a great starting point. To make a long story short, I’ve followed the guide (with no mention of a BotBoarduino board) and when I get to step 20A and connect the board to my PC, the SSC-32 Servo sequencer finds my device and then just states “Please cycle the power and try again” and the motor just tics every second. I must say for $300 the instructions are crap and I’m not very happy with this purchase at the moment. Someone please tell me how to fix this issue.

Thanks,

Confusing. The SSC-32 Servo sequencer program works with the SSC32 board.

Probably need more info from you.

The Servo Sequencer is NOT compatible with the BotBoarduino. The BotBoarduino microcontroller only works with the Arduino software.
There is sample code for using the BotBoarduino with a PS2 remote control, otherwise you would need to either create your own code or adapt the one from the PS2.
Note that the BotBoarduino-based Lynxmotion arms are quite advanced and are suggested for those with some programming background.
Can you please post some photos of the setup so we can see the connections? When you press “reply” there will be an"attachment" section below the reply field where you can upload images.

I got it working last night with the Arduino Software. Thank you for the post. I am a software developer and this makes more since to me. They problem is the instructions for this arm never mention the BotBoardduino name nor do they give any details on how to complete the project with this board. They only mention the SSC-32 and SSC-32U. So the newbies have no clue what to do with this board, or that the instructions tell them to use software that does not work with this board.

We do apologize that at this time we don’t have a specific guide for programming the BotBoarduino using Arduino. The best approach is to follow the BotBoarduino-PS2 guide here:

We’re happy you got it working, and know that we’re always here to help.
