Ssc-32 not working how do I know it's not the driver?

I bought the FTDI USB-to-serial adapter cable with the FT232R chip. when I plugged it in Microsoft found a driver online. Shows FTDI version 2.8.14.0 - is this correct?

It needs to be the VCP version of the driver. (Virtual Com Port)

I checked with the web site

ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

and for Windows the one chosen - 2.8.14.0 - looks to be correct.

If you read this link lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6286 , it will provide some guidelines for providing some additional information. DO you know what comm port is associated with the FTDI driver and if the Lynxterm software is using that comm port.
