SSC-32 Firmware Question from a beginner

Just finished building the AL5D arm, controled with the SSC-32 using the Lynx Dual Arm controller software from my laptop. Do I need to do anything to the SSC-32 as far as firmware for this application? If I have to change firmware unsure how to accomplish this, I am assuming the board get plugged in using the serial cable? If so, Is the board powed by the 9V battery during the firmware install? Sorry for the basic questions, learning as we go, any help or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Feel like we are in over our head right now.

There is no need to change the firmware on the SSC-32 for all but a very few special cases. We are here to help you. Just post detailed questions and we will do our utmost best to help you.

thank you, will let you know if we have any other questions, hoping to fire it up tonight, have all the software installed,…have my fingers crossed the USB-serial adapter installed correct, and reads properly…
