Spinning Wrist

I have an AL5D Lynxmotion Robot that I control by programming through MATLAB. All the servos function correctly except for the wrist, which spins wildly and gets tangled in the wires on occasion when I run through my program. I’ve looked through the program multiple times so I don’t think it’s the problem, all my program has the robot do is pick up things like pencils and legos. I’ve also bought a new servo for the wrist and replaced it but the wrist still spins. Even when I use LynxTerm to manually turn the wrist it still spins. Do any of you have any idea what could be going wrong? Thanks!

Hi,

This does seem like a rather abnormal behavior for a Lynxmotion robotic arm. It would help if you could provide the following information:

]One or more pictures of your SSC-32U and its setup, showing clearly all components (SSC-32U, its jumpers, wires connections, power cables, etc.)/:m]
]A short video of the situation you described in action (if you share it through a video site such as YouTube, please make sure it is accessible, i.e. not private)/:m]

You can attach your pictures to your reply by using the Attachments bar. It is available in Full editor mode above the 4 orange buttons (see the attached image for details).

Sincerely,

I’ve attached the pictures and here is the link to the YouTube video.

We strongly suggest removing the brackets and re-centering the wrist and gripper servos.
It also sounds like the servo is being commanded to go to an angle which is beyond what it can do (for example a signal below 500us or above 2500us).
Check all of your wiring, especially the servo extensions (ensuring black to back, yellow to yellow etc).

The wires are definitely connected correctly. We’ve also re-centered the wrist multiple times. I’ve double checked our program on MATLAB and I don’t see any numbers that go beyond the angle limits (we even set limits in our program to prevent that from happening). The first time this wrist spinning happened, after trying to fix it and it not working, we even got a new wrist, servos, wires, and a new SSC-32U but it still spun after one or two runs.

Can you verify that the arm works correctly when connected to Lynxterm or the SSC-32 Servo Sequencer (i.e. eliminate MatLab from the equation)?
