For our 12 pound combat robot, we are using 2 RS-395 Banebot Motors, with 2 P60 Gearboxes 26:1 and the 12.0V 1600mAH Rechargeable NiMH Battery Pack we got from RobotShop.
We used the Turnigy 20A brushed ESC speed controller that worked fine except it does not do reverse which we have to have. Can you recommend a brushed speed controller which can do reverse, work with these motors and handle 12V?
Also, can you recommend a transmitter and receiver which will work with this speed controller?
Finally, do you sell a kit for a boat, car, plane, or helicopter hat can handle 2 or more 12V motors like the RS-395 and does reverse as well as a brushless motor between 22V and 30V which includes transmitter, receiver, speed controllers and motors? Might be easier just to take the guts out as needed for our 12 pound combat robot. This way we know all the electronics and components are supposed to work together.
For the motor controller, you can use a Sabertooth Motor Controller as this Sabertooth Dual 12A 6V-24V R/C Regenerative Motor Driver for example.
As for the remote control, the Sabertooth Controller should work with almost any RC Receiver on the market. Here is a link to our RC Remote Control category.
We unfortunately don’t know of an RC kit that uses the RS-395 Brushed Banebot Motors.
Anyway, it would certainly be less expensive and more efficient to use an RC Sabertooth Controller and an RC Remote with these motors then to cannibalize a kit using the Banebot motors.
You shouldn’t encounter issues controlling the Banebot motors with an RC Sabertooth controller and an RC Remote.
We plan on initially using the transmitter and receiver from the FingerTech ‘Viper’ Combat Robot Kit V2 w/ Transmitter and Charger we purchased from you earlier in the year. Do you see a problem with that?
We plan on upgrading to a Spektrum or Tactic transmitter and receiver for the Motorama competition next year.
