Speech-controlled Vehicle

We are designing a wireless mobile robot that can be controlled using voice commands. The robot is in the shape of a an average size R/C car that we will build.

How can we design a robot that will perform tasks such as forward, reverse, turn left, turn right, u-turn and other such functions by recognizing the command an individual gives by simply saying the word. For example: If an individual said “Forward”, the car would automatically recognize the word and start moving forward. What parts are needed to build such a device?

First, you will need a programmable mobile platform. We recommend the DFRobotshop Rover that will be soon in stock (but you can preorder it!).

You will also need a (6 Ah LiPo) battery and a Seeedstudio Solar Charger Shield.

For the speech recognition part, we recommend using the VRbot Voice Recognition Module.
