What do you think?
A pair of worm-drive wiper motors in a chassis that compact?
I don’t know - you might want a bit more torque in there.
No, not wipers, window lift. They have a little less speed. 8)
Hot diggity, that is one perfectly named robot!
Multi-colored ty-wraps, Check!
Holes punched everywhere, Check!
Technicolor wire harnesses octopussing all over, Check!
Electrical tape, Check!
Offcenter-mounted brain, Check!
Rivits!! Hooray!
What’s the Cat-5 for? Is it your battery disconnect connector?
How do the wheels do? Are they soft rubber or hard rubber? Where are they from?
…and bonus points for hot-melt glue in a structural application! 8)
The cat-5 is a long story. This robot was originally made for R/C sumo, where there is a teather to the hand controller. The cat-5 connecter goes straight to the relays. So when we wanted to do an autonomus mode we added the controller to the top and used the same plug. This lets me unplug the electronics and use it R/C. Execpt no radio.
The reason for all the holes is to reduce weight. We started out with a box but found out it was 1Kg over weight! But it turned out even better!
The glue is just to hold the connecters in as they kept falling out. The wheels are colsons. They are hard rubber. Check these out: robotmarketplace.com/marketplace_colsons.html
lol, ill have to agree, its quite the mess (no offense) but then gaain, thats why u named it space junk
howd it do in the sumo competitions? it looks to be a bit tall
It has done great! Lots of second place medals at the Canadian National Robot Games. It has won the autonomus class at the OCAD sumo robot challenge 3 times now. It is a little slow for R/C sumo.
It started out really neat, but then we added the electronics, and sensors, and I’m sure everyone knows how that goes.
