Answered in PM.
Same question, I need the source to the firmware.
I don’t think it is available now due to foreign manufactures pirating the firmware to make and sell ssc-32 clones.
Kinda defeats the purpose of open source don’t you think? I mean by no means am I against a company creating a good product and selling it but pulling the source due to someone trying to steal your work?? You’re giving it away in the first place, there is no stealing. There are other means to deal with patent infringement. At any rate, I hope this isn’t the case.
The decision to make it open source was dependent on the disclaimer that it could not be used for commercial purposes. It has been. So we pulled it. I guess it depends on what you think the purpose is. We defined it as a way for customers to share different ideas. Well it never happened.
I am somewhat disappointed at the moment. I bought this controller, because the software was open source when I bought it and I therefore could implement my own functions.
Unfortunately, so far nobody react further to my last PM where I’ve answered the question why I need the sources.
I am taking this matter into further consideration. Please bear with me for 24 hours.
When you bought it? The current source code hasn’t been available for something like 2 years! I am certain the people trying to rip the product and sell it as their own are somewhat disappointed as well. The source code isn’t easy to follow as it has been very hand optimised. If you were capable of following it to begin with then rolling your own using the established hardware platform should be something less than a 2 year task.
Are you certain on that statement of the code not being available for the last 2 years?? I got mine this year (4 months ago??) and I’m certain I’ve seen the ASM source for it somewhere. At any rate, I can understand the concern and violation of the agreement and will respect the decision whether it open the source back up or keeps it closed.
Well there you go!
The source code for the SSC-32 is in C, Specifically in CodeVisionAVR (at least the older, 1st version). And as I recall, the new, second version is still in C. I don’t think it was ASM. But I could be wrong. Maybe you are thinking of something else?
It turns out that very few if any are up to working on the tightly optimized code. And it is quite difficult to port to another uP, due to the tightly matched counter control and timing needed to get the fantastic resolution out of the processor.
Now if you only need to control a few (8 or less) servos, and possibly a little less resolution, then it’s not that hard to write code to do that.

I will PM you guys…
So where can i exactly get the source code from ??? the link is still broken. I would like to get the source code to get some hands on knowledge about SSC-24 im making. When i first bought the SSC32 I was able to get a 32v202 version downloaded from the site. Can you please help with this as I am actually doing this as part of a university project. It would be nice to atleast let the people who bought the product access to the code.
First post on the forum and you already appear to be in the *ss mode.
