Sound to control servo

Hi, I’m looking for something which can convert sound in to servo movement. Ideally one which can use a microphone and have the option to use Bluetooth and output to a speaker and move the servo. Does such a thing exist or can it be made with various components? I am making a project robot and need something to operate its mouth… so a microphone to mimic what it ‘hears’ and also Bluetooth and a speaker to have it appear to talk to you. Sorry for my lack of technical knowledge, I am much more a model maker than a robot maker.

Hi @Lukerichardson40 and welcome to our forum!

Your project sounds fun, and we would like to see it, when finished, in our Robots section: Robots | RobotShop Community

There is actually a hardware with which you can control servo via sound. See this one: Sound to RC Servo Driver - Electronics-Lab.com

But as you already mentioned, you can also make it yourself.

I’ve seen some examples online like these:

I hope this helps a little bit.

Hi!

Thanks for the reply and the welcome. It’s something I’d like to get in to a bit more.

I’ve looked at that one on the electronics lab, sadly it’s out of stock and they don’t plan on making any more.

The head follows you around which is a start. I can’t attach a video because I’m new but I’ll certainly keep you all updated! Steep learning curve ahead I think.

You are welcome!

FYI, there is also a V2 of this board: Sound to RC Servo Driver v2.0 - Arduino Compatible - Electronics-Lab.com
