Well I assembled my rc rover, but somethings wrong…
I push forward and the vehicle tries to turn, I push backward and the same thing happens. Seems like I push left and it goes forward and I push right and it goes backward.
I checked my motor to motor controller setup, they match the online instructions. Perhaps something is wrong with the dipswitches or something?
It would help to know your configuration. How are you hooked up? What are the dip switches set to?
My assumption is that you are hooked up with a sabertooth connected directly with the RC receiver. Your initial description sounds like you may have channels 1 and 2 reversed. But again I am guessing.
When I got up this morning, I had a “hmmm, I wonder…” moment. I then switched the channel 1 and channel 2 connections (although the little labels on the wires said the channel 1 connection was in the right place and the channel 2 connection was in the right place).
Anyway, after I did that, I had robot control!
I too have that little jerky dance when I turn the transmitter off before the robot.
Ok, so the rover is assembled (sort of). Used duct tape to secure a 12 volt lead acid on the top of rover for testing. Have some hi-capacity metal hydrides on order. Will now see how challenging it is to assemble the pan/tilt mechanism. I hope I have room for everything on top of rover when I’m done as I also want to put a small camcorder and a video transmitter up there!
