Soldering iron/station

Well I'm in dire need of a good soldering iron/station the Soldering iron I have now is some cheap pencil style iron which rusts and turns red in 2 months, even though I take good care of them it still happens.

I used to have a good soldering iron had it for 4 days then for the science fair my friend said he needed it so I took the iron to school , while we were working some senior came up and started doing some stupid things with it and I couldn't argue since I was scared of him. Finally he managed to break it (I don't know how he did it) and he went away. Then on the same day someone stole my 1lb solder wire spool at school.

Now story aside I need a soldering station or iron for smd work and through hole work. I've been searching google for some Irons under 45 dollars and I could not decide what to get.

So could you guys tell me what you are using so I could decide, since my PCB is on it's way and I don't have a functional soldering iron at home

P.S I can't get a soldering iron like a hakko (too expensive)

I used this soldering

I used this soldering station http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATTEN-AT936b-50W-220V-SMD-Rework-Station-Welding-Soldering-Station-Solder-Irons-/121086917931?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c3157bd2b for a long time and still have it as a backup soldering iron.

Do you still use it

Do you still use it

No. I upgraded to this

No. I upgraded to this rework station http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aoyue-968-SMD-HotAir-3in1-Repairing-Rework-Station-220V-/200919209443?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ec7b7d5e3

But the soldering iron still works and has no issues.

Great thanks for the advice
