Did you upgrade to the same company?
How did it work when you used it?
How does it compare to a sherline?
Thanks!
We have a big Taig in the shop but I bought an older Microlux 7X12 for home. I love it.
The Taig is very accurate for such a small lathe. And it’s surprisingly affordable. I just needed something longer for at home but I wanted to try the small Taig out. I really like the 4 jaw chuck better than the 3. I found the three jaw had too much offset for precision work.
The Sherline is a bit better lathe, but at more than double the price, I would expect it to be. I really like the size of the sherline as well as the “ready to go appearance”. I don’t think the average hobbyist would notice any in precision in the Taig. The picky at home machinist might.
This is going to end up being a great deal…
Hopefully not too good. I have the reserve set pretty low.
I would love to consider it, but I really need an end mill before I consider getting a lathe!
(And I need a 3d software package before my preview of Autodesk LT runs out in May!)
