Single Direction Voltage? Urgent - Please help

I am looking for something to “absorb” any extra voltage being generated by a regenetive speed controller to stop it being fed back into an AC>DC power supply. Something like a one-way valve that will stop any power trying to come back up the line to the power supply, and absorb the power in the proccess.

Power supply is 36v/4.2a/150w.

I really do not want to use batteries (Sealed lead acid, etc) in the circuit but have been told that they work.

Can anyone please recommend a way to get around this? I have posted before and go no reply, but really need to get this issue sorted ASAP.

Your statement is somewhat vague. Have you tried using a diode?

That would be my suggestion, probably with a small battery.

transorb, power shunt regulator, large capacitors… all are possiblities but the correct solution will depend heavily on the specifics or your system. for instance if you are talking about motors in the several HP range you are more than likely going to need an active solution rather than the more or less passive ones I mention above.
