Simple ultrasonic connection

Hi,

I have an ultrasonic tx and an ultrasonic rx.
I have a function generator sending out a 40khz freq to the tx and I want to show the received signal from the rx on an oscilloscope.
I would like to know the basic circuit to show the signal.
I have been trying a few things but nothing has worked yet.

My tx and rx have 2 pins only.

If the received signal is too short, you will need to use the trigger/storage option of the oscilloscope. If this still does not work, please provide more details about your setup with diagrams or pictures.
