I am a humanoid robot builder. Simone is the latest in a long line of life-size humanoid robots that I have built over the years. (Although I love Simone Giertz's work, no, my Simone has nothing to do with her.) This was built without a 3D printer using mostly off the shelf parts. A lot of hacking went into it.
This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://community.robotshop.com/robots/show/simone-the-a-i-fembot
I am documenting the build process in Servo Magazine.
She is beautiful. What are she capable of doing?
Thanks!
Talking, gesturing, singing, identifying peope and things, being rude and sassy, etc. Her arms have three degrees of freedom. Her head has 7. See my videos. Hello and Welcome to #OpenFembot - Simone the AI Robot - Now with OpenAI's GPT-3! - YouTube

Awesome. For what purpose did you build it? Was it an academic project or commercial one?
I built it to prove that I could do it. I saw Sophia the robot and thought to myself, “I can do that!”
