Short Video of our Track System

hi, what are idler wheels? and i didnt understand the thing about the nylon tubing, what do they do and where can I get some?

thanks

by the way real nice bot :open_mouth:

Idler wheels are what the track rides on between the two drive sprockets, for support. On an actual tank I believe they are called road wheels(?)

Idler wheels are not connected to a motor.
Instead, they just rotate in place.

They are needed to hold the track where it’s supposed to be and to keep proper tension.
Imagine a real tank…
All the tiny wheels on it are idlers.

What was meant by the nylon tubing was that Jim made a simple idler out of them.
By putting a hollow cylindrical tube around the hex standoffs (see the main product page if you don’t know what those are), these work well enough to keep the track on the ground.

I’m not sure if Jim is selling the tubing currently (he probably will be eventually if he already isn’t), but it’s something that you can pick up at a local hobby/hardware shop.
In fact, if you’ve got a plastic pen with an inner diameter of more than a quarter inch, you can take that pen appart and cut the tube up into a few idlers.

man what wouldI do if this forum didnt exist

ok thanks for the deffinission

Glad to help.
