Shieldbot for Arduino Question

In a nut shell I have been asked to find out if the Shieldbot for Arduino come with an actual Arduino? Or is it a seperate item that must be purchased? I am curious as to which of the various Arduinos’ to use as an platform for a household bot.
Ie., which one has the best expandability/options.

This shieldbot is an Arduino shield (advertised as “A flexible add-on for your Arduino”) and requires a separate Arduino microcontroller such as the Uno or Leonardo. The Uno is the most popular.
