What is the difference between a shapeoko deluxe and a shapeoko 3 and can the 16" be expanded?
Hi chapmanrm,
The Shapeoko Deluxe is a special version from SparkFun. It use the same hardware as the standard Shapeoko made by Carbide3D but with SparkFun electronics.
It will also use open-source software solution and will not have the homing switch or the Makita router adapter.
With the Carbide3D you get the homing switches and two softwares which make it easier to get things working.
Carbide Create: To create parts and generate your cutting code. It can import DXF and SVG files as well.
Carbide Motion: To control the CNC and run the cutting code.
Carbide3D: Shapeoko 3
SparkFun: Shapeoko Deluxe
Carbide3D offer a XL and XXL version of their Shapeoko with larger cutting area.
can you expand the size for the shapeoko 3 and where can i buy in Canada?
sorry this is Canadian I will buy here.
Hi chapmanrm,
You can’t really upgrade the Shapeoko 3 for a bigger footprint, our suggestion would be to go with the XL from the start.
Most of the CNC parts will have to change for the larger version (longer extrusions etc) but we can ask Carbide3D for a special upgrade kit if needed.
Just select the Canadian warehouse (top right) on our website and it will be shipped from Canada.
Hello
I am looking for shapeoko aluminum profiles, some person takes a kit to enlarge their Shapeoko, and suddenly they still have the old smaller rails I would like to be able to recover? The manufacturer unfortunately refuses to sell these parts!
