Shapeoko 3 to engrave and cut leather

I am thinking of buying a Shapeoko 3 and I would like to engrave and cut leather (3mm thick stable leather)

I would like to know if this is possible? they would be small designs so detail would be important.

If this is possible what type of cutter/s would be required?

Please be honest here as I don’t want to buy the machine and then find I cannot do the job.

Please help with any advise or suggestions

Many thanks

Mack

Hi,

I have found a few blogpost about engraving and cutting leathers with a Shapeoko that you may find interesting:

It is possible but it looks like you will need a special tool to actually cut the leather:

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for those links I had looked on Google but had not found those, so all very informative.

Will keep on looking sounds like it can be done but will have to get the correct cutters etc.?

thanks again
