SFE Load sensor (RB-Spa-488)

I have seen the data sheet to verify all the specifications, but I want to make sure which wire is which. Could you please specify which wires are in reference to what. Such as red is vcc, black is ground etc.

Thank you,
Karly O

Hi Karly,

The RB-Spa-488 is basically half of a Wheatstone bridge. To get any useful data from the product, you would need to connect it to an instrumentation amplifier. Another way to do this would be to combine two of the RB-Spa-488 to make a full Wheatstone bridge and connect this to a Wheatstone bridge interface such as the RB-Phi-107 (can connect up to four Wheatstone bridges) and the RB-Dfr-519 (can connect one Wheatstone bridge).

To make a full Wheatstone bridge with two the RB-Spa-488, you would have to connect the white wires to VCC (probably 5 V DC), the black wires to GND (0 V DC) and the red wires to the S+ & S- connectors of your Wheatstone interface or instrumentation amplifier. Then, connect the interface or amplifier to one of your microcontroller’s ADC pin and read the amplified output.

You could also try to one load cell by itself by connecting the white to VCC, black to GND and the red to an operational amplifier and the output of the opamp to an analog pin on your microcontroller.

Sincerely,
