i’am interested in an SES arm with position and better velocity feedback (better be encoder) to be able to override the local closed loop control of the servos, i need it for a control systems lab.

Hi,
There is an open servo project that gets into the servo, and replaces the servo board with a uP.
You can access the feedback pot on most servos, read that. Perhaps find a higher precision pot?
Encoders would be nice, but would be close to the size of the servos! Not to mention the additional weight. We are at a relatively close power/weight ratio as it is.
