Hi,
I am in the process of assembling the SES robot arm with optional wrist rotation which I plan to use with the RIOS software. I would appreciate some clarification on a few entries in the user manuals:
in the SES ARM ASSEMBLY GUIDE, I am instructed to assemble the elbow (step 11) and then, in step 17 I am told to adjust the angle of the elbow. Is there any reason I can’t just set the correct angle in the first place?
still in the SES ARM ASSEMBLY GUIDE , I don’t understand the instructions in step 8 and figure 8-1 . Can’t I simply pre-assemble the wrist rotate assembly (gripper, gripper connector, and low-profile axis assembly) and connect it to the multipurpose bracket at this point?
in the SES WRIST ROTATE ASSEMBLY GUIDE: the second sentence in step two starts with “use the C gripper you just removed—”. I presume it means to use the short C bracket?
Again in the SES WRIST ROTATE ASSEMBLY GUIDE: is there a difference between figure 1 and figure 2 ?
You should be able to do it earlier, but I think the reason for it being a separate step is because you should use the same holes, and then remove the servo horn and move that arm up by two clicks cause this should be exactly 30 degrees.
I’m not sure about this one, but I can’t see it being a problem the way you described (you may need to attach the servo afterwards?)
Yep, that sounds right to me.
They are the same picture (they both have the same URL). I expect they are supposed to be.
Hope this clears everything up. If anyone has any corrections for any of this, go for it.
The reason this is done in two separate steps is because not everyone uses our RIOS software. If the user is not using RIOS, then the adjustment is not needed. Since you are using RIOS, you could adjust the angle during Step 11. Just make sure you follow the instructions outlined in Step 17. Also remember to not repeat Step 17!
Uh, sure. The reason we did it this way is because not everyone needs the gripper wrist rotate upgrade. We wanted to finish assembling the arm (for those who just need the arm) before referring everyone else to the gripper upgrade assembly.
Right you are. I’ve fixed the typo now. Thanks for pointing it out!
I’ve made a new picture for Step 1, which I think makes more sense. Figure 1 now shows which pieces need to be disassembled and removed.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!
