Servos to move hydraulic pump levers

I am building a robotic lawnmower using an old ZTR. I have the track system built and I was using a set of Turnigy 959 coreless servos to push and pull the levers on the hydraulic pumps to drive the mower. This worked great but one servo burned up. I thought about using linear actuators but the pump lever moves in an arch. I also thought about trying to use steppers with a lever. I really think a larger servo might do the trick. The amount of force required to pull the levers is only about 7lbs but holding the 7lbs proved to be too much for the 959 servos. I am extremely new to this type of stuff so there are a lot of terms I do not understand. Any help would be appreciated
