Servos should not be operated continuously more than 30 min

Hello,

Under the SSC-32U user guide ( lynxmotion.com/images/data/l … _guide.pdf ),

On page 17 / Power Considerations, under Wall Adapter, it says:

A wall adapter can provide an infinite supply of power, though **the servos should not be operated continuously for more than around 30 minutes **

Will heed this warning. But just curious, what is in danger here, the board, or the servos, or both? I’d imagine that if the servos are under constant load for that long, they’d probably overheat and break down. Is that the reason for this warning?

The board can operate servos for extended periods of time. RC hobby servos however have very low duty cycles and under load, tend to get hot quite fast. It is really up to the customer to monitor this, but since neither the SSC-32U nor the servos will “tell” you if there are issues, it’s best to play it safe. Should you find the servos, in your application / project do not heat up after 30 minutes, then it’s really up to you to determine how long to safely use them.
