Servos + K'nex + Rubber Band = ?!?!?!

Autonomous shmonomous!
Here’s the real reason for making your sensor head…

::drumroll::

This is what happens when you leave Nick all alone without a robot to build.

I stepped on the K’nex rubber band gun (too poor to afford a $2 wooden one) that I had made when I was much younger (a year ago x12.putfile.com/1/1916192191.gif).

After reassembly, the idea of a biped rubber band gun struck me.
With the exemption of a single plastic washer and the rubber bands, the entire construct is built of K’nex (some of them, I “tweaked” with an X-acto knife) and Lynxmotion parts.

The rubber bands that work best have a non-stretched circumference of 4.5" and a length and width of 1/16".

The big gear that you see on there is a standard hitec horn (I got one of them with each of my 5645’s) that I cut slits into.

The bracket that you see is one of the two Biped Scout’s leg brackets.

I’ve dissasembled it, and am waiting for the first coat of black plastic-paint to dry, right now.

I plan to make a C02 gun, like the one below, in the future…
To my disbelief, and exceptional gratitude, my toothbrush has gallantly volunteered its motor for me to use as the puncturing device.
(pardon the crappy drawing)

Sweet. And most people think the Terminator movies are fake. What a shame…

Look like you are a few steps closer to taking over the world!

Nah, I’ve already done that.

I just didn’t want to frighten the populus by telling them too quickly.

Today, everyone who reads this post will know.
Tomorrow, everyone you guys talk to will know.

Eventually, everyone will slowly come to accept me as their divine ruler.

There, you see?
I’m a very nice dictator; I’m all concerned about what you peasants feel and whatnot.

By the way…
Slight problem with my design.

In the event of an “accidental” impact with human tissue (read- my siblings), a CO2 cartridge goes well beyond the realm “OMFG, THAT HURTS!”, and warps into the dimension of “limb detatchment”.

I was testing the design by puncturing 12g CO2 cartridges…
And, the effect was, overall, quite exciting; that is, until I tested it on myself.

It broke my rib.

So, I’ll be rethinking my design (read- I’ll be saving it for those peasants who really deserve a punishment).

It broke your rib? That sucks. What size cartridge were you using?

A 12g that I had superglued little “rocket” fins on.

I was standing five feet away, too.

On the bright side, they were rather accurate…
too accurate.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t mind broken ribs, though, so no worries.
After barely surviving weekly judo tournaments, a single broken rib is more an annoyance, than anything else.

Nick, you are the first person I know that can explain an injury by saying their robot shot them. I’m not sure if this is something to be proud of or not, but it’s definitely something!

Nick, it’s a good thing you did not put explosive tips in those rockets! :open_mouth:

I had a close call when I first started my paintball shooting hexapod project. After that I started doing some research on the subject. Those little canisters have over 800psi pressure. Not to be taken lightly. Yikes man!

I just hope we’re not seeing the begining of a robot uprising

Nah.
I plan to keep my robots relatively stupid.
Slaves are no fun, when they can think too well.

You are seeing the makings of a Nick Reiser uprising, though.

Be warned.
