Servo's for a humanoid

ok guys i have chososen to stick with hi tech servos for now
but my budget is tight. my qustion is what joints are most important(or see the most strees) in a humanoid configuration. im thinking i will move my hs 422’s to the arms and use hs 645’s for hip and nee’s and hs 5645’s for the ankles. what do you guys think.
i might be able to go with two more 5645 if i have to but that would put me just over my target buget.
thanks in advance you guys are the best

For the brat, the ankles are the main stress point. Almost the entire weight of the brat rides on these two servos when tilting side to side. The knee and hip servos are next in line. If a biped Pete style is used, then the ankle is not under quite as much stress since the torso is shifted parallel to the ground and not tilted like the brat.

Having the most powerful servos on the ankles and knees is best.

There may be as many answers as there are builders. I would go with stronger servos in the hip. It does much more work than the ankle. If the bot is standing there is little effort in the ankle to shift weight, but the hip has to lift the entire leg.

If it’s the Brat, I say ankle… :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks guys it will be the humanoid like this

so i think ankle and hip will get 5645’s and nee’s will be 645’s
arms will be 422’s and i plan on using this leg kit to make the 4 dof arm
but in the same config as above

so should i use the 5645 on both hip hip servos left/right and forward/backward and leave the ankle a 645
so i im thinking a total of 4x 5645’s 6x 645’s and 8x 422’s (all ready have 6 with the brat so only have to get two or three more 422’s)
i just dont think i can get 4 5645’s right now i will prolly slowly upgrade all to the 5645 when i can put the money into it
so i guess the  is if you could only aford two 5645 right now where would you put them on this bot

That picture you posted is considered a biped “PETE” style biped. I say 5645’s for the hips and ankles. The hips I’m talking about are the servos just under the torso. Then you can use 645’s for the other servos in the leg. Stronger is better, but I’m trying to think low cost. If you have six 5645’s on hand then I would place them in the hip, knee, and ankle’s. For the arms I would use 645’s for the shoulder and elbow as a minimum so the bot can get up off the ground if it falls over, but I really don’t know how it would do performance wise. Perhaps Jim, or someone who has built a “PETE” style biped can recommend the best servo for the joints in the arms.

thanks guys i do understand that the strongest servo i can get will be the better road to take so ithink ima have to do this build over some time so i can use as many 5645’s as i can afford so i think ima start with the legs and work my way up from there and build it manly with 645’s and 5645’s
and use my 422’s as extra’s for other functions  :smiling_imp:
thanks agian for the advice
ps: i will start making vaccum parts when i get this build complet
cant wait to show you guys what i got in mind :smiling_imp:
