Hello all,
I’m working with a project that requires some pretty good torque but I think we’ve selected the wrong servos. Here is what we’ve been able to determine. The servos we have, when operated at 5v put out about 87oz-in of torque, and will absolutely not move our arm. When we bump it up to 6v (max) it will pick it up off the ground, slightly, and allow it to rotate in a small circle, with 100oz-in of torque. I believe if we can get the torque up to around 140, possibly slightly less, this thing will move as expected. Otherwise, we have to develop a counterweight system, and this thing is ugly enough as it is.
The servos we are using are Savox sc-254 models. The servos we are looking at are Tower Pro mg996r. Does anyone have any thoughts on the comparison between the models?
