If I wanted to mount some servo motors on the DF Rover to control them off the Arduino board, it looks like
RB-Dfr-151 is the shield that should be used?
Please suggest some servo motors that would work well with it.

We suggest a simple servo motor. The shield only helps make the connections easy - you could just split the 3 wires coming from the servo to 5V (red wire), GND (black wire) and one of the digital pins (Signal). Standard servos move to a position you specify between 0 and 180 degrees. Choose a servo based on the weight it will need to support. A stepper motor is not the way to go in this case.
RB-Dfr-151 would allow you to connect an additional 2x DC motors and up to 6 servos, but if you just want to add servos, consider an /O shield like RB-Dfr-71.

The HS-5 servo can output 1.3Kg-cm, so it depends on the distance between the pivot axis and the center of mass of the object. For example, if the center of mass is 5cm above the pivot, it can support ~0.26Kg.
