Servo modification

I need to modify a servo, so that only its potentiometer is connected to the shaft.
(This way, I can use the modified servo, with the standard brackets, to build
a control arm.)
I saw instructions for doing this somewhere in this forum, but cannot find it now.
Could someone send me the pointer?

Thanks.

i do already have 5 or 6 modified servos if you wanted to save buying new ones.
Open to offers on price.

I wouldn’t destroy servos just to use their pots and casings. Using inexpensive pots like below would seem to be more cost effective and practical.

I’m using a BotBoarduino to control robot arm. What size of potentiometer should I use?
(10K or 5K?)

Thanks

I believe most servo pots are 5k.

The ohm rating of the pot is probably not critical weather it is 5k or 10k, as the wiper output voltage will be ~the same for either pot. I just got the below for various tinkering. Took ~two weeks to arrive, but a decent deal for 10 small pots for $3.00 shipped.

I made the search lately
Hitec use 5k pot and most compagny too.

I ordered mine at Digikey but they are 13$ each … (don’t want something cheap here)
