Sorry, didnt know where to post this newbie question, but I purchased the lynxmotion pan/tilt kit with the 422 servos, Do I need to follow the “Servo Mid Position” tutorial w/ the both servos first before assembling with the pan/tilt kit?
Well, technically, there’s no real set way to do it, since you can always take it back appart and readjust it easily (especially with just the pan & tilt).
However, it usually is best to set the mid positions of every servo before you assembly any robot.
Simply connect all of the servos to the servo controller, send a 1.5ms pulse to each, and then adjusting the offset of each (see your servo controller manual for the proper syntax).
I’d advise leaving the servos connected and powered, after this.
This ensures that you don’t move the servo from it’s mid position when assembling.

We all had to start somewhere; in fact, just by starting robotics now, you’re ahead of most of the pack.
Yeah, this is a fun(pricey) hobby, mistakes should be few and far, tx for your input, I’ll try to make my questions a little more complex next time!
