Servo Erector Set

Hey, I am a little confused about the servo erector set link on this site (below)
lynxmotion.com/Category.aspx?CategoryID=73

Is this just one pre-packed kit from which many things can be built? Or are there specific kits for specific projects? Are they sold by parts only or are they packaged into a kit for building?

How do you order these, for instance, as far as i can see, there is a kit for the bipod hand and torso, but none for the legs? Is each body part sold separately?

Thanks

it is an overview of the series of parts lynxmotion calls the servo erector set, aka SES. all the brackets and stuff are designed to work with each other, consistent hole patterns, specific spacings that allow the individual brackets to line up, etc. the individual brackets and stuff are purchased separately although a lot of them come 2 to 4 in a pack depending on what they are.

ok thanks… but, just to confirm, should I wish to build the humanoid biped for instance… am i to look at the assembly guide for it and then just purchase the relevant parts based on that guide?

pretty much however you should search the forums a bit as I think I may have seen at least a majority of a build list for one of the full sized bipeds at some point posted.

The Servo Erector Set is comprised of all of the parts we use in our kits. It’s ala cart so to speak. Because this set of parts is what we use for all our kits, you could look at any of our robot kits as SES kits for specific projects.

I dislike the name Servo Erector Set. I personally would have named them SBS - Servo Bracket System or LSBS - Lynxmotion Servo Bracket System. To me, a set is comprised of an assortment of components, where as a system is an assortment of components that work together. Change the name “SET” to “SYSTEM” and all is good.

Perhaps some day Jim will make the name change to something better, but for now we all will just have to suffer with the name SES. :stuck_out_tongue:
