Servo Erector Set 3-D Models Database

Would it be possible for me to get some of these models in OBJ format.
I don’t have solidworks, its to expensive for me, and I don’t have a program that opens the STEP files properly.

I’m using wings3d which is a program designed more for 3d art modeling rather than CAD but its all i have.

It supports OBJ, 3DS, NDO, and FBX

If its possible could someone could e-mail the ASB-04 and a ASB-03 bracket in one of these formats?

I can do the conversion and have the asb-04 file, but not the asb-03. Need an email to send it to.

Please send the files to [email protected] so I can include them in our 3D Models download page. We would prefer to keep all of the files on the website. There are copywrite issues and it makes sense to keep them in one central location. Ok?

I’ve added linuxguy’s AHC-03 files to the model database in .stp, .igs, and .ad_prt (Alibre Design) formats. Please let me know if there are any errors, and enjoy.

I can convert all the steps into about any format, the only problem I have is with the solid works files created in version 2005 and 2006. I have 2004, and opening a file created in the later versions gives me a future version error. So the assemblies I can’t open. If one of the guys with SW2006 could look for me to see if thier assemblies can be saved in 2004 compatability, I can take care of most of the rest of the format conversions.

And yes Beth I will send them directly to you for posting.

Woo hoo, you rock, Beth!

I am also working on a new servo model. I have already completed the top cover and it mates perfectly with all four holes to your asb-04 bracket.

Assuming all the other brackets have the same spacing, it should mate perfectly with them also. I am working on the case now. This new model will fix any alignment problems I and others have been having.

lol, i changed the asb-04 in my files and the asb-13 to fit the darn servo…LOL I still have the originals, but your servo will be awesome…

Thanks.

I can not change imported models, but I can take measurements off them and model new parts based on that. If you know of any other existing alignment problems, feel free to send me a note and I will work on them as I have time. I am already aware of the HUB-09/ASB-19 problem and it’s on my todo list.

I already fixed the AHC-03 problem. You can now mate parts to all six faces.

I just wanted to play so I just redid the brackets I needed. I have no Hitec servos here to model, only some 3003 futabas that came with controllers I have. I was just frustrated with the alignment issue so I modified the easiest parts to do what I wanted in Solid Works 2004.

I’ve added brokenlaser’s ASB files to the model database in .3dm (Rhino) format. Please let me know if there are any errors, and enjoy.

If you get to a place where more are people using Alibre Design for CAD as I do, I can provide parts in that format. I think I have everything already converted for my own use.

I can certainly understand the frustration with alignment issues. Alibre Design allows me to make subassemblies flexible within higher level assemblies. The alignment problems with the servo model throw everything off when I flex a subassembly.

I finally got tired of not being able to use flexible subassemlies, and decided to create a new servo model that would properly align with the brackets. The top cover already aligns and mates perfectly with the asb-04 (all four holes). I just have to finish the case and do the bottom cover and it will be done and I can send it to Beth.

If brokenlaser can email me the Files in Obj format than I can easily convert them over to 3ds, ndo, fbx, lwo and I think two others I’m not sure

My email is [email protected]

OK I gots a question, in the lexan parts. Why are holes square?? At first I thought is was a software translation issue, but after opening the step files in three different softwares, I still get the square holes. I looked at the assembly quides and don’t see a reason. It’s just the holes where spacers would attach, it’s not a problem really, just a curiosity point.

Square holes cut faster, a fraction of a second maybe, but multiplied by a few thousand, it adds up.

I’ve added brokenlaser’s ASB files to the model database in .obj format. Please let me know if there are any errors, and enjoy. Note: I zipped the files to dramatically reduce the file sizes.

Ok Jim, I was thinking that as I wrote it. That would make sence for a gantry style Universal. Not Knowing which model you have if it’s got stepper motors the repeatability would be better also with squares.
Like I said I was just curious if there was a engineering aspect to it that I wasn’t catching.

Also to all in general, I’ll be finishing the other file conversions during the next week or so.

Ok I got a model based off the hs-422 servo that fits the brackets perfectly, it is just a dummy, no internals, but a true to ses brackets that works in assemblies without having to fudge it. This link will be active only till Beth gets it and lets me know then it’s Lynxmotin’s file for them to distribute.

This file contains a solidworks 2004, a obj, a step, and a 3dm file, enjoy

I also found a problem with the asb-13, the servo mount holes were spaced wrong, the dim on the original model was 1.954" and the dim on asb-04 is 1.937" I designed the servo to the 1.937" so went into the asb-13, and found the holes were off set on the tabs by the .017" that was the problem. Centering the holes to the tab fixed the problem and I will get the part to Beth to upload.

Also hsmh-01, the bolt hole patter was out in relation to the asb’s, I have fixed that also and will be sending them to Beth.

Could someone be kind enough to export all the models into an AutoCad or SketchUp format? I find sketchup a very easy program to use.
