After some months of tinkering I have determined that I have a servo that is dead. I managed to replace it with a spare (?at least I hope it is a spare) from my kit.
I want to share the test I did to figure out what was going on. It seems simple now. I just opened PUPPYP.EXE and added some dummy actions. In my case it was ID=6 that went bad. To isolate the problem. I changed the actions from the default 1500 to be 1500, 1250, 1000, 1250, 1500 - this is enough to sort of wiggle the appendage. I did them in pairs so it was quite obvious when I ran ID=6 and ID=8 that the former one was not operational.
Also I have an upside-down cat treat container that I use to suspend the robot up in the air while I test). Because of the dead limb, the robot would eventually lose its balance and fall over so I couldn’t get very far by having it try to walk around.
My question is two part: do these servos fail often (what is the MTF) or is it just a matter of the servo never worked. Second, do these have any replacement policy or warranty?
Thanks. I have been getting great support from them (HiWonder). They don’t have my order info though. That’s why I reached out to you.
(also, they have been helping me with operations and software questions - I haven’t actually ‘played’ with the robot until recently)
Yes they are celebrating the New Year until Feb 5th. Happy New Year!
