Hello I am completely new at this so please be patient with me. I am looking for hardware and software to control turnouts(usually called switches, using the term turnout to avoid confusion with electrical switches)with servos. I would like to know about servo controllers and software to run them. How many servos could I run? How far away can the servos be from the controller? Is there a way to power LEDs or some other visual way to show servo positon? Will the DC powered locomotives cause interference with the servos and the controllers? Will the software run on Windows 10? I have been doing research on the internet and Seem to be coming up with more questions than answers. I been looking at the Lynxmotion SSC-32U Servo Contoller and the SSC-32 Servo Utility. Any help, advice, information or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You Craig
As many as the servo controller can handle. In the case of the SSC-32, up to 32 servos.
This depends on the current, but we don’t suggest more than around 36", while 24" is quite reliable.
There are other devices which accept servo input, but nothing in particular comes to mind to show the position.
They should not (in theory).
It depends on which controller, but if you are looking at the SSC-32U, you can download and try the software free here:
