Servo City Power Gearbox?

Has anyone used the Servo City power gearbox servos?

I think these would be great for a robot arm or maybe the hip joints in a biped/hexapod. They dont look like they would add much weight while at the same time giving 5x the lifting power (at a speed decrease).

If you have used them please let me know what you think of them because I’d like to pick some up. Anyone at Lynxmotion considered using them in any of your bots?

yes, we would like to buy it either for base and soulder joints of our 6 dof lynx arm. any comments would be valuable.

well yes, there is the obvious advantage of the power increase, andf the disadvantage of the speed descrease, but for one, itf you plan on using it with the SES, you would need to make your own bracket for it, and 2nd with that big gear down, it have a much smaller range of motion, unless you make it continuous rotation by removing the stop, but if you did that, the the servo would no long hold postiotion accuratly

…unlesss you use the external pot on the thing…i think, wait for other feed back

It looks like the internal stop and pot would need to be removed. The internal pot is replaced by the provided pot. The rotation range would be limited to rotaton range of the external pot.

 see, i told ya someone else would come along

those things r sweet, the offer either 90 or 180 degree, probly just a diff
gear to the pot. and they offer a metal gear version too.

Yes the internal pot is removed and an external one needs to be soldered on. This comes with the kit according to the site.

These will be used as shoulder joints that dont need to move as much so I think they will be ok on speed.

Aw come on…someone has to have bough one…
