Servo and controller selection

I’m building a control to attach to the throttle of a small outboard boat motor to make small precise adjustments to the throttle. I believe a 35kg digital waterproof servo typical size is what I need. Then, up at the helm…I need a control like your yellow one to tell the servo how much to advance throttle and hold it there. Id like to power this system off my 12 volt house battery so I believe a transformer or something to match the servo is needed. Also, I need about 30 feet of wire and some terminal ends. Hopefully you can help me with my project

Hi @MattMerten and welcome to our forum!

It seems that your project looks like this one:

I think you could use the same principle (and schematics), maybe without all of these buttons, resistors and LEDs.

So in the end, you need following:

  • Arduino UNO
  • servo motor
  • voltage regulators
  • potentiometer
  • plugs and switches

Maybe for the start, you can choose a servo and see how can you mount it to your throttle ?
