This is my situation. I have put an IC SERIAL EEPROM 256K 2.5V 8DIP in my SSC-32. The sequencer didn’t recognize the EEPROM, so I tried to update the firmware. I did exactly what the guide for the sequencer said. I opened a file in the Firware Update section and clicked on “Begin Update”. I always had a response such as “Incompatible firmware detected! You are trying to updated a SSC-32 V2 (Atmega 168) with a firware for SSC-32 V1 (Atmega 8-16)”. So I opened another file and when I tried to begin the update again, the firmware began to be installed. It seemed something was loading, and on top of the window it said, “deleting ssc-32”. I went immediately to task manager in my pc and ended the process right away. Now that I’m trying to connect to my Johnny 5 robot with the bluetooth, it won’t do it. Its set to COM 9. Once its set to COM 9 then the green LED turns on. But in the sequencer there are no button or icons I can really open other than “Setup”, “Timeout”, “Connect”, “Client”, “Exit”, “Project”, “Ask”, “About”. What is happening?
Your quick reflexes may have put you in a bit of a pinch.
Updating the firmware works like this:
Erase current firmware >> Write new firmware >> Verify new firmware
By stopping the process during/after erasing the firmware you have probably left yourself with a crippled SSC-32. Try to update your firmware normally. You will probably get an error that says
click “Yes” on this window.
Follow the instructions on the new window that pops up.
I think the combination of timing and your connection may have something to do with it as Jim mentioned. I don’t know if this helps but got an error in Lynxterm yesterday similar to that using my BlueSMiRF connection but I wasn’t doing a firmware update. I had powered off my SSC-32 (and BlueSMiRF which runs off the SSC’s power) and restarted Lynxterm several times in a row when testing some things out and kept getting an error saying something along the lines that I was using V2 software but connecting to a V1.
I unhooked the 9V which powers the logic, unplugged my 6V servo power source, and restarted Lynxterm then all worked fine. Make sure your batteries are all good too - that messed me up trying to get the bluetooth stuff working the other day. Good luck!
