sensor problems

Well, I am using the sensor, tsl262r (edit) for my micromouse. it has been giving me quite a headache! I followed to pins and connected it to my robots 5v regulator output and to ground. The vout pins were then connected to the negative (vout) and positive (vdd) pins of my multimeter. They are hooked up in parallel. However, only the first sensor, out of 4, give a reading of 5v when there is no ir light present and later about 1v when there is much ir light present. The rest of the sensors give a little about .5v when there is not ir light, is very unreactive to ir light. Any ideas why? could it be due to the

CHANGED THE NAME OF SENSOR.

Sensor problems

Did you get a datasheet with the sensors? I just did a “Google” search and didn’t get any hits. Many sensors of this type have an open collector output and need a pull-up resistor to +5 volts in order for it to operate. Also, if you didn’t use a current limiting resistor on the LED side of the sensor, you may have already fried it. Again, most of these sensors require the resistors added externally in order for it to operate.
