Senior Project Biped Robot Pictures

I haven’t wrote the software to control the robot yet. The software will be written in Java.

The purpose of this robot is an Artificial Intelligent robot. Sadly it will not be a self contained system, but controlled by a PC. The robot has a microphone and speaker to receive input from the user and verbally respond.

I have been able to walk the robot using Lynxmotion.

Would like to see the videos. How much flex do you see in the sheet metal?

And there is nothing wrong with a robot being controlled by a computer! That being said, where are all the sensors for the AI part?

Nice work!

I was wondering just a little about the brackets as well. If you incorporate a long fold into them, they’ll be stronger.

I see the SSC32, so I assume you’re talking to it with a serial cable and a PC?

What is the little holder for?

Nice clean brackets. Shiny.

The aluminum does flex, but I think it’ll be fine. If it is a problem, I’ll probably just cut another piece to double the thickness instead of bending an angle into it; I like the look of the flat reflective shine, : ).

The little holder is for a amplified microphone I bought at walmart.

As for the AI, its mostly going to be a chatting robot. I’m going to use Alice (alicebot.org) and AIML so the user can communicate with the robot.

The goal of the project is to have a robot that a user can communicate with much like a personal (pet) humanoid.

Unfortunately I don’t have a video camera, so I can only share pictures.

Looks great! You should try some other stuff, me and my group have made our biped get up from the gound (front, back, and side). It’s pretty easy, just a balancing act but looks real cool.
