Selecting Controller/Driver for School Project

Hello,

I am a student at the University of Utah and I am trying to decide on the right driver/controller for my basic brushless DC motor. It has 3 phases (6 windings) and will require approximately 2 amps and 2 volts. I don’t have any hall sensors. I’m thinking about ordering the following the following product:
Veyron 5A Brushless Motor Controller

Product Code : RB-Dfr-464

This controller appears to have a software interface that makes it easier to program. Do you think this controller will do the job?

Thanks!

Hi,

The RB-Dfr-464 is appropriate to drive a brushless, 3-phase DC motor in a range of voltage of 8-30 V DC (12-24V DC recommended). You mentioned 2 volts in your post, which seems abnormally too low. Please confirm your motor specs and make sure they meet the ones for the RB-Dfr-464.

The manufacturer specifies the software interface allows driving the brushless motor without sensors, so this should fit your application.

Sincerely,
