Second level and nylon spacers for RobotShop rover v1.0

Where can I buy the second level for this kit:
robotshop.com/productinfo.aspx?pc=RB-Rbo-119&lang=en-US

(Metal second level, nylon spacers and screws to mount.)

Thanks!

That was the objective of the kit - it’s not something fully assembled and needs you to get a little dirty to learn how to wire things together - slow and small enough to be used on your table. The things you have learned while making the rover include:

  • Wiring and controlling a serial motor controller (the rest will seem comparably easy) to be used with DC motors and a microcontroller
  • Wiring and controlling servos
  • Wiring and using an analog distance sensor
  • Assembling a robot

You can pretty much go anywhere from here - you can try legged robots, tracked etc, or consider WiFi control, vision systems etc. We look forward to seeing your progress.

Actually, it would be made out of black Lexan - it would match the tracks.

Currently not created, but now that we have a laser cutting machine, we’ll add it to our plans. Currently the best solution is to just take a flat piece of wood / metal / plastic and drill four holes in the right locations and use spacers.

Ok cool, I just wanted to get one from your website because of the matching color scheme. I wanted to pay homage to the RobotShop Rover pepsi blue styling. I wanted to mention how grateful I am for the great information found on your website. I have learned a lot about robotics from the website’s documentation and the great staff’s help through the forums and when you call in for service or to order parts.

Also, I should dutifully note that the robot intermediate RobotShop Rover kit is the best money I have every spent on a hobby. I was fascinated to see my robot come to life without all the hassle of individually identifying every single little piece of hardware needed to start a robot from scratch. For a guy coming from a software background and no hardware experience besides the stuff in college physics classes… Awesome experience, I was showing my desktop rover to a coworker who also has an interest in arduino’s. He was fascinated that the rover is available as a starter kit online.

The intermediate level of the rover is made very beginner friendly by the documentation and support the provided by the RobotShop team.

Thanks guys!

Coleman,

I am looking forward to the upper deck on the website, thanks! Cool work on the project man… Btw, I bought some aluminum strips from HomeDepot. They are 1/36" thick and very light. I am able to cut them easily using a hacksaw and drill into them. The aluminum color goes well the pepsi theme.

Cheers!
