Screws to fix damping panels on AL5D

Hi

I am trying to fix the damping panels onto the C brackets… The screws seem too short to go through the 2 panels and the bracket. Screws are #2 x 250 (1/4 ) Also there is conflicting information on fixing the panels. At the top of page 25 there is a diagram which shows the panel with the large hole, INSIDE the bracket. At the bottom of the page it says, ’ The panels with the larger holes are on the OUTSIDE of the bracket.

See attachment.
I look forward to your reply

This step is the trickiest of the entire assembly and we are working to resolve it. There is enough thread to keep the two panels together, though be certain to align the screw with the small holes of the second panel. Take care in aligning the screw, and press down when turning since you are effectively force threading the plastic. Stop when the the panel does not come off, and don’t keep turning or else the screw will strip the plastic.

Regarding the wording in the guide, we do apologize for any confusion - one panel includes one large center hole and two small holes for the screws, while the other panel includes one small central hole and two larger holes. The diagrams are correct. We will change the text to indicate “The panels with the larger outer holes are on the outside of the bracket”. The updated guide will also include the new panel design (which will look almost identical) but make use of 2-56 screws.

Should you be unsuccessful at this step, there are two options. Keep in mind the function of the small #2 screws is to temporarily keep the panels in place. The screw and nuts in steps B4 and B10 effectively keep everything in place after.

  1. Use any basic glue to temporarily keep the panels in place. Even tape would work (can remove after steps B4 and B10 are complete).
  2. We can send you updated panels which use 2-56 screws and are easier to thread into place.
