Scout electronics

Does anyone know the electonics you need when you buy the scout? i looked on the scout page and it said electronics not included. could someone please list the electronics needed.

There is no specific electronics required for the Scout, or any other robot. However, you may want to seriously consider the Basic Atom Pro on a Bot Board II for starters. Support for the Atom Pro is excellent here, and there is a LOT of code for various things already written by many here - from all sorts of sensors, remote control such as the PS/2 wireless remote, and many other things. Otherwise, if you are comfortable with another controller that would fit well on a Scout (or other Biped), you can use that.

Thanks for the info. i will defiently take your advice.

As Linuxguy mentioned, it is completely up to you. You should look at the different configurations that the Biped Brat is sold and choose your electronics depending on your preferences. Using electronics sold by Lynxmotion, you have a few different options.

a) The Atom Bot Board 2 with a Basic Atom Pro. Lots of flexibility. You can can start off with programs that currently work on the Brat and adapt them. Not sure if there are any version posted up on the forum that someone else has done this or not…
There are several sub options on this one depending on how you wish to control it.

  1. PS2 - controller (need controller and cable)
  2. Autonomous - probably need some sensors
  3. TV Remote control - Used to use the IRPD sensor for this not sure if that is still available…

b) SSC-32 - Connect it to your PC with either cables, blue tooth, … You can use a program like SEQ to generate sequences and use some program on the PC to run those sequences…

c) Combination of a and b…

Good Luck
