I have had my Scooba 385 for almost a year now. Recenly it has developed a problem. At times it would clean for about 10 minutes and the light over the start button would start flashing and it would stop with the check tank light on. But now the check tank light stays on even before starting and refuses to start. I have cleaned the clean and dirty tanks out and filled it with fresh water. Is this a fault with the tank? I need my Scooba desperately and any help would be appreciated.
Hello Julie,
Thanks for your reply. The pump is working fine. Vacuum filter is good, magnet is still there. The pattern seems to be that it starts off fine, then after 15 mins or so the pause/start light starts flashing. Then it plays the finish tune along with the error buzz and the check tank light comes on. Then it refuses to start again with the check tank error. I also just tried something that shouldn’t have worked but the Scooba starts without the tank in place and when I latch it in place I get the check tank error light. I guess this means the Scooba has gone faulty. Can it be repaired?
Hello Julie,
I just wanted to tell you that I cleaned the tank again, this time using a lab surfactant that I use at work called Decon, we use it to clean labware. I made some solution and filled the dirty tank with warm water shook it up and left it soaking for a few hours. Seems like that did the trick, it’s still cleaning while I am typing this message to you. It would have normally stopped by now. No flashing lights. Thanks for all of your help. When I need replacement parts I will definitely be ordering them from you.
Best regards,
Anthony
Seems i have similar problem that not solved by all advices here:
Water tank is clean, filled with fresh water.
Dirty tank is clean. Tried to insulate it’s contacts, doesn’t help.
Battery reseat doesn’t help.
All removable parts seated well, triple checked.
Pump sounds like working, but no spray under the scooba.
Tried to create pressure in water intake system in both directions: it feels like completely stuck (but maybe this is by design).
Tried all tricks from fixya.com/support/t240743-st … _indicator too.
What else to try?
Hi Ivy,
Have you tried to prime the pump? Try using a turkey baster, straw, or sports bottle, force air or water through Scooba’s solution valve. Confirm that the baster, straw, or sports bottle fits snugly over Scooba’s solution valve and push the air or water through the system at least three times. Replace the tank and try re-starting Scooba.
Also, please verify if there is nothing lodged inside the tubing and the dirty tank.
Please let us know how it goes.
I tried priming. It was hard but water’s flowing. I used following procedure from robotreviews.com/chat/viewtopic.php?t=4922 that HELPS!
After that the priming was easy.
Hi,
If you’ve purchased the Scooba with us, we suggest you to contact us , with your invoice / order number via tickets at our support center here : robotshop.com/en/support.html
We’ll verify if your Scooba is under the manufacturer’s warranty.
If you have not purchased the robot with us, we would suggest you to purchase a new tank, as it should fix your problem.
If your Scooba is getting the ‘Check Tank’ error, it may be several things.
You want to make sure that the tank is properly pushed and latched in place. If it comes loose when it runs, the robot may no longer be able to see the tank and will give you the error.
As well, you would want to make sure the vacuum port filter is installed and fully pushed into place. It has a small magnet on it to trigger a sensor; you can remove it and make sure the magnet is still there. It’s on the underside of the filter - it’s a small cylindrical projection that sticks out.
Lastly, the pump may need to be primed. If the pump makes a “whirring” or squirting sound, this indicates that the pump is turning. Using a turkey baster, straw, or sports bottle, force air or water through Scooba’s solution valve. Confirm that the baster, straw, or sports bottle fits snugly over Scooba’s solution valve and push the air or water through the system at least three times. Replace the tank and try re-starting Scooba.
If the pump does not make a “whirring” sound, or this problem occurs in the midst of a cleaning cycle, and the robot isn’t in drying mode (blinking Clean light), the pump may have stopped turning. Using the flat of your hand, strike the robot near the charging port to try to restart the pump.
Also, while cleaning the tank, we suggest making warm water enter the vacuum port under the robots tank, water should then flow out the filter compartment. Often times water does not pass through and the tank needs to be shaken to dislodge any debris that is stuck.
Let us know how that goes.
It sounds like your tank is dirty. There is a float inside the tank and once the dirty tank is full the robot goes into drying mode and the pause/start light starts flashing. It appears that the robot believes the tank is full after only 15 minutes of cleaning which would point to a dirty tank. Were you able to try cleaning the tank as mentioned in our previous post?
You may also want to consider the purchase of a new tank. We unfortunately do not repair Scoobas but, we do sell all parts and accessories.
Glad to hear that cleaning the tank did the trick.
