SCARA Lynx arm

Hi guys,

I’m curious to know if anyone has been successful in building a SCARA (Râ•‘Râ•‘P) arm with Lynx parts. I ask primarily because I’m interested in what sort of linear actuator was used for the prismatic joint.

It looks like SCARA manipulators aren’t particularly interesting to most folks compared with elbow manipulators. :laughing: They are, however, excellent for pick and place.

I’ve seen it done once before, but the vertical movement was just a pen up/down. It wrote or drew with the pen. Can’t find it though.

I might have to rig something up with a servo or a gear-reduced motor if I explore this option. The hobby level linear actuators are $90+ for just a few inches of travel!
