Just bought https://www.robotshop.com/en/robobuilder-sam-3-smart-serial-servo-motor.html.
We connected Vcc to 6VDC (4AA battery pack), gnd to gnd of the pack, TX to a 5V FTDI RX, RX to the 5V FTDI TX.
The FTDI is working at 5V because we hooked two together in a null modem config and tested with putty.
When we first connect power to the servo we see a blue LED flash once, very briefly, less than 1/2 a second, then nothing (see video below). We run the SAM_Programmer(v0.990) software. We connect to the correct COM port for the FTDI (COM 3) in our case. 115200 baud. We select all the ids and do a ScanUXA, it doesn’t find anything on any ID 0-31. We select ID 0 and try to send commands, we see the LEDs on the FTDI blink indicating data being transmitted, but it doesn’t find a servo, and the servo doesn’t move. See video below.
Do we have a bad servo, or are we doing something wrong?
Thanks for your help!
