Safe to use a drill battery with a 12 volt motor

Hello everyone!
I think I mentioned in my last post that I am building an underwater ROV. It’s going great, and I just need one more thing: a battery.
I was wondering if it was safe/functional to use a 12v drill battery. I am using motors rated at 12v just FYI. Super close to getting this done and excited. If any of you robotics geniuses out there know, than thank you!

You have to take into account other things besides the nominal voltage, for example: the capacity and discharge rate. If you need more information about this I recommend checking this tutorial:
